A THOUSAND-YEAR LEGACY,PRESERVED IN 771 BLOSSOMS
Across its lacquered surface, approximately 770 chrysanthemum scrolls unfold in mother-of-pearl, each cut, arranged, and refined with astonishing precision. Delicate hemp-leaf, tortoiseshell, and linked-bead motifs are articulated with hair-fine brass wire, creating a visual rhythm of extraordinary intricacy.
One of only around twenty surviving Goryeo mother-of-pearl lacquer boxes known worldwide, this remarkable work is further distinguished by its exceptionally rare interior partition. More than an artifact, it is a luminous testament to the thousand-year legacy of Korean Najeonchilgi—an art of patience, precision, and enduring beauty.
